Pat Flanagan has been appointed manager of Westmeath outfit Caulry in succession to Shane Curran.

The former Westmeath, Offaly and Sligo boss joins the Mount Temple club after being in charge of Kildare side Sarsfields this year. Caulry reached their first Westmeath SFC semi-final since 1946 this year and are eager to build on that under the Clara man who, ironically, also replaced former Roscommon ‘keeper Curran in the Padraig Pearses hotseat and went on to win two county SFC titles in 2019 and ’21 as well as a Connacht club crown.

Flanagan is no stranger to the Westmeath club scene, having had spells in charge of Kilbeggan Shamrocks and Tyrrellspass who he enjoyed IFC and SFC success with.

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Pat Flanagan as our senior football manager for the 2024 season. Pat comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are excited to welcome him into our club,” Caulry said in a statement.

"His management team will be confirmed at a later stage. We wish Pat the very best of luck."
