Legendary Meath football manager Sean Boylan turns 80 today.

The popular herbalist, who is regarded as one of the greatest GAA managers of all-time, celebrated the milestone with family, friends and players he managed at a function in the Dunboyne Castle last Sunday. Among those in attendance were Meath greats Robbie O’Malley, Bernard Flynn, Trevor Giles, Tommy Dowd, David Beggy, John McDermott, Brian Stafford, Graham Geraghty and Joe Cassells, who all won All-Irelands under the octogenarian.

The Royals lifted the Sam Maguire Cup four times – 1987, ’88, ’96 and ’99 – during Boylan’s hugely successful reign which spanned from 1982 to 2005.
