Former Tánaiste Mary Coughlan is in pole position to become the next chairperson of Donegal GAA following Sean Dunnion’s decision to pull out of the race last night.
Former chairperson Dunnion had been nominated for the vacant post in the Tir Chonaill County but has decided to focus on his re-election for Central Council Officer instead.
With Cieran Kelly also confirming yesterday that he will not be running for the position, Coughlan is now the only remaining candidate.
The St Naul’s clubwoman now looks set to succeed Fergus McGee and become the first female chair of the Donegal county board.
The vote takes place on Wednesday night week, December 13th, in Ballybofey.
