Dublin GAA has submitted a planning application to Dublin South Dublin Council seeking to develop three further playing pitches and a pavilion at its Spawell facility.

With works already underway on a pitch from a previous planning application in 2019, the latest plan would see three floodlit pitches added, one of which would have a 500-capacity covered stand and a 500-capacity terrace.

There are also plans to construct a 2,050sq m single-storey pavilion which would include 10 dressing-rooms, male and female changing rooms for match officials, a gym, physio room, first aid room, kitchen and dining area, as well as a team meeting room at the 35-acre site which was purchased in 2017 for an estimated €9 million.

The development plans come as Dublin GAA prepares to unveil Staycity as its new main sponsor in a deal believed to be worth several million euros.
