A dominant first half display laid the foundations for Kilcoo’s 2-13 to 1-7 Ulster Club SFC preliminary round victory over Derrygonnelly Harps at Brewster Park.

The Fermanagh champions must be sick of the sight of the Magpies who also ousted them in the 2019 Ulster Club SFC semi-final and the 2021 Ulster Club SFC final. Early points from Eugene Branagan and Ryan Johnston settled the 2022 All-Ireland champions before Conall Jones replied for the Harps. But they wouldn’t score again in the first half as Kilcoo streaked clear with points from Ceilum Doherty, Johnston and Aaron Morgan along with a goal from a Paul Devlin penalty to lead by 1-9 to 0-1 at the break.

Gary McKenna pulled a goal back for Derrygonnelly after the restart, but the result was never in doubt as the Down kingpins underlined their superiority with a late palmed goal from substitute Sean Óg McCusker which sets up a quarter-final date with Scotstown.
