A 1-15 to 2-10 victory over Carnew Emmets in Aughrim yesterday saw Bray Emmets become the first team to achieve a five-in-a-row of Wicklow SHC successes.
Eoin McCormack’s first-minute goal set last year’s Leinster intermediate champions up for an historic win. Carnew hit back with scores from Jack Doyle, Padraig Doran and Dan Redmond, but conceded too many frees which the accurate Christy Moorehouse punished.
An Adrian Myers goal in the 27th minute brought Carnew level, but Bray scored two of the last three points of the first half to lead by the minimum at the break.
The holders extended their advantage after the restart through points from McCormack and Brian Nesbitt before a Dan Redmond goal reduced the gap to two in stoppage-time. But Bray held on to maintain their vice-like grip on the Bob O’Keeffe Cup.
