Middletown produced a turbo-charged finish to overcome Keady by 1-15 to 0-11 and complete a five-in-a-row of Armagh SHC titles at the Box-It Athletic Grounds yesterday.
The winners outscored their opponents by 1-7 to 0-1 in the final quarter to capture their eighth title in nine years. The scoreline was harsh on Keady who led by 0-8 to 0-6 at half-time thanks to the accuracy of Conor Corvan and a super shift from Shea Harvey in the middle of the field.
But undermined by 15 wides, Keady only managed three points in the second half as the champions finished with a flourish. Dean Gaffney and Sean Óg McGuinness shot two points each to give them the lead before Conor Gormley’s goal 10 minutes from time settled it.
