Clare star Peter Duggan says it’s an honour to be picked for Ireland for next weekend's Hurling/Shinty International.

The Clooney/Quin sharpshooter was an All-Ireland winner with the Banner men in 2013 and an All-Star winner in 2018, finishing as the championship’s top-scorer in the latter season.

Speaking to RTE Sport this week, Duggan said being selected to play for his country is up there with the highs he’s had in his career to date.

"I didn’t have to hesitate," he said. "Wearing a green jersey in any sport is the pinnacle and you don’t get too many chances in the GAA, especially with hurling and this was a no-brainer for me.

"I realise the honour it is to be picked. I was on to YouTube straight away researching old videos and learning the game. The opportunity for me to get involved was massive and it is for everyone at home too."
