Injury-time points from Ronan Kennedy and Keith Beirne clinched a first Leitrim senior football championship title in three years for Mohill at St Mary’s, Kiltoghert’s expense.

It finished 2-10 to 0-14 in Carrick-on-Shannon, where both teams served up a gripping decider and it was Mohill that came from two points down at half-time to win out by the same margin.

The holders looked in control in the opening 20 minutes, with marksman Paul Keaney registering four of the first five points as they led 0-5 to 0-2.

All that good work was wiped out when Jordan Reynolds smashed in Mohill’s first goal on 22 minutes and they’d through Keith Keegan’s point four minutes later.

St Mary’s responded with points from Gavin Reynolds, Nicholas McWeeney and Ben McGuckian to take in a 0-8 to 1-3 lead.

The gap stood at two when Kennedy hit the victors’ second goal on 45 minutes and, from there, they wouldn’t trail again.

Keaney did get the Saints level with five minutes to go prior to points from Kennedy (2) and county ace Beirne (free) securing the sweet victory for Mohill that avenges last year’s final loss to the same opposition.
