Sligo have appointed Carlow native Stephen Shiel as their new senior hurling manager on a two-year term.
The former Carlow player and Westmeath minor manager succeeds Padraig Mannion in the post after the latter stepped down in August.
Ex-Galway player Seamus Qualter will be part of Shiel’s backroom team along with Donal O’Brien who hurled with both Tipperary intermediates and Mayo seniors during his own playing days.
This past season saw Sligo relegated back to Division 3A of the Allianz League before putting in some improved displays in the Christy Ring Cup, winning against Mayo, Tyrone and London and just missing out on the competition’s final.
TweetThe County Committee of Sligo GAA has ratified Stephen Sheil as manager of the county's senior hurling team for a two year term. Stephen will be assisted by lead coach Seamus Qualter and by Donal O’Brien. For more, go to https://t.co/OASMmVujkP
