Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney has been dealt a blow ahead of next season with the news that midfield star Jarlath Óg Burns has opted away from the panel for 2024.

This past summer saw the Orchard men reaching the Ulster SFC final as well as the All-Ireland quarter-finals, losing both on penalties to Derry and Monaghan respectively.

Reports this morning (Thursday) are that the Silverbridge clubman has decided that he needs a break from inter-county football.

The 24-year-old, whose father Jarlath is set to become GAA president next year, will continue to stay committed to his club duties with Silverbridge along with Craobh Rua who he hurls with.
