The launch of Pat Spillane's new book, 'In the Blood: My life in and out of football', will take place in his native Templenoe on Saturday night.
One of Ireland's best-known sportspeople and part of a famous footballing family, Pat is recognised as one of the greatest Gaelic footballers of all-time. He is the holder of eight All-Ireland SFC medals and was selected on the GAA’s Team of the Millennium.
He has also been one of the GAA's most controversial pundits, driving the agenda on The Sunday Game and in the Sunday World for 30 years.
In this honest and revealing book, Pat reveals the sadness of his childhood when his father died young; his dazzling football career and encounters with other immortals, from Mick O’Dwyer onwards; the reality of life as pundit; his years as a primary school teacher; and the stress of dealing with the government after his spell with the state advisory group on rural affairs.
