Holders Shinrone and Kilcormac/Killoughey will contest the Offaly SHC final for the second year-in-a-row following their semi-final victories at the weekend.

Shinrone lost to Ballinamere in the group stages a few weeks ago, but turned the tables with a 1-19 to 0-16 victory in the first semi-final on Saturday. Winners of the Sean Robbins Cup for the first time last year, the Tipp-border club led by 0-9 to 0-8 at half-time before turning the screw with five unanswered points from Sean Cleary, Killian Sampson, Donal Morkan, Dara Maher and Jason Sampson between the 39th and 46th minutes.

Sampson’s 53rd minute goal made sure of the win.

In yesterday’s semi-final, Kilcormac/Killoughey came from 0-7 to 1-8 down at half-time to overpower St Rynagh’s 0-22 to 1-14.  Joey O’Connor’s second-minute goal gave the Banagher outfit a dream start and they were looking good at half-time. But inspired by county stars Cillian Kiely and Charlie Mitchell, Shane Hand’s charges outscored their old rivals by 0-15 to 0-6 in the second period to set up a revenge mission against Shinrone in Birr on Sunday week.
