Reigning Roscommon senior football champions Strokestown have been sensationally relegated to the intermediate ranks for 2024.

The Fahey Cup holders were beaten 0-9 to 0-10 by Western Gaels in last Saturday’s SFC relegation final which was moved out of the county to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan due an unplayable pitch in Elphin. With Cathal Cregg in top form, the Frenchpark club were full value for their victory, having led by three points before late points from Colin Compton and Diarmuid McGann couldn’t save the champions.

Saturday’s Roscommon U20FC Division 2 final was also moved to Bekan where Éire Óg/Michael Glaveys beat St. Dominic’s by 0-6 to 0-4 in difficult conditions.
