Thurles Sarsfields are a win away from their 37th Tipperary senior hurling championship title after seeing off Loughmore-Castleiney last night.

It finished 1-22 to 2-12 at Semple Stadium, where Loughmore had led by the minimum at the halfway stage thanks to Ciaran McCormack’s goal.

Sars outscored their opponents by 0-7 to 0-1 in 10 minutes to take control and Aidan McCormack fired in their goal in the 55th minute.

John McGrath struck a penalty for the trailers with eight minutes to go but they couldn’t close the gap, as Sarsfields now look for one more win to land their first Dan Breen Cup since 2017.
