Lar Wall – who led The Downs to a Leinster club SFC final appearance last year – has joined Davy Burke’s Roscommon football management team.

The highly-rated coach replaces Gerry McGowan in the set-up and will work alongside Burke, 2012 Donegal All-Ireland winner Mark McHugh and former Rossie star Eddie Lohan. It’s believed Wall was sounded out by a number of county sides following The Downs’ surprisingly early exit from this year’s Westmeath SFC race. Wall managed the black and ambers to their first Flanagan Cup in 17 years and a Leinster club final where they lost to eventual All-Ireland champions Kilmacud Crokes.

The former Arles-Kilcruise and Laois footballer previously guided Gaeil Colmcille to the 2020 Meath SFC final, only to lose to a last-gasp Ratoath goal.
