Already one of the most decorated players in Westmeath GAA history, Paddy Dowdall is hoping to make further history this weekend.

On Saturday, the former Westmeath hurler will line out at midfield for the St Loman’s second team in the JFC final against Kilbeggan Shamrocks before managing the firsts against Coralstown/Kinnegad in Sunday’s televised SFC final. Appearing in their ninth straight SFC final, the Mullingar club are favourites to regain the Flanagan Cup after last year’s defeat to The Downs, while they will also fancy their chances in the JFC decider.

Dowdall succeeded recently-appointed Offaly senior football manager Declan Kelly as St Loman’s senior boss at the start of the year after winning nine SHC medals with Clonkill and six SFC medals with St Loman’s.
