Madden moved into the semi-finals of the Armagh senior football championship with a 1-8 to 0-6 victory over Ballymacnab at the Athletic Grounds last night.
Mickey Grimley’s side were dominant in the first-half, with the returning Niall Grimley setting up Shea Vallely for a tap in goal on 25 minutes that opened up a six-point advantage.
Making his first start for the Raparees in two years, Grimley was also one the scoresheet in the first-half along with Conor Grimley and Niall Smith to help their team lead by 1-5 to 0-1 at the interval.
2019 runners Ballymacnab showed improvement after the turnaround, as three Rory Grugan frees narrowed their deficit but they couldn’t close the gap completely as their opponents progressed through to the last four of the Gerry Fagan Cup race.
