Derry have confirmed the appointment of Mickey Harte as their new senior football manager.

The three-time Tyrone All-Ireland winning boss was ratified on a three-year term at last night's county board meeting. He will be joined by Gavin Devlin, just 24 hours after they stood down as Louth manager and coach respectively.

“We wish both the management team and playing panel every success for the 2024 season," a Derry GAA statement read.

Harte replaces Ciaran Meenagh, who took over from Rory Gallagher on the eve of this year's Ulster SFC final penalty shootout victory over Armagh, but decided not to take the job on a permanent basis.

Already, thoughts are turning to the 2024 Ulster SFC draw which takes place next month, and the prospect of Harte facing his beloved Tyrone who he managed for 18 years.
