First-time winners in 2016 and runners-up in 2019, '20 and '21, Borris-Kilcotton surrendered their Laois SHC status following a relegation playoff defeat to The Harps last night.

Appearing in their third successive relegation showdown and coming off the back of three defeats in the group stages, The Harps once again saved their best 'til last to win out on a 0-28 to 2-20 scoreline.

With PJ Scully to the fore and Dean Carey finding the net to give them a four-point cushion with 15 minutes to go, it looked like Borris-Kilcotton would survive, but The Harps stormed back with late scores from James Duggan - who finished with 0-7 to his credit - and substitute Mick Lanigan to spare themselves from the drop once again.
