Galway fans fly their flag.

Salthill/Knocknacarra GAA club has led the tributes to its former player Aonghus Hanley, who died in the US last week.

Aonghus, who is a brother of former All-Ireland club SFC winner and Galway full back Finian Hanley, passed away in West Roxbury, Massachusetts last Tuesday, August 22. Aonghus was a talented footballer who represented the Seasiders at all levels and captained them to both Feile and Championship success. He will repose at O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway this evening (Thursday) from 3pm to 6.30 pm, with removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road, to arrive at 7pm.

A 'Celebration of Life Mass for Aonghus' will take place tomorrow morning, followed by a private cremation.

"The Club asks that all Club Members meet at 6.15pm at St Joseph’s Church on Presentation Road this Thursday evening and for each member to wear club colours for the guard of honour,” a social media post from Salthill/Knocknacarra read.

"From 6.30pm onwards, the Club will line the route towards the church. There will be a short service at 7pm at the Church."
