Gareth Johnston is set to fill the vacancy left by Michael Kenny in Longford football manager Paddy Christie’s backroom team.
Kenny, from Mostrim, recently stepped down from his selector’s role and will be replaced by Rathcline clubman Johnston, who had two stints as Longford minor manager in 2014 and 2021/22. His name will be put forward for ratification at the next county board meeting.
Former Dublin full back Christie was recently ratified as manager for a second year. His reign got off to a great start when Longford won the O'Byrne Cup last January. However, they were subsequently relegated to Division 4 of the Allianz League and were knocked out of the Leinster SFC and Tailteann Cup by Offaly and Down respectively.
TweetGareth Johnson (Rathcline) will be put forward for ratification as Longford Senior football selector at the next meeting of Coiste Chontae Longfort.
