Ethan O’Donnell’s point in the third minute of injury-time snatched a draw for Naomh Conaill against St Eunan’s in today’s headline clash in the Donegal senior football championship.
It finished 0-9 apiece at Davy Brennan Memorial Park, where TG4’s cameras were broadcasting the second-round encounter live, with these two sides having contested the last two senior football deciders in the Tir Chonaill County.
St Eunan’s had been dominant for large portions of the opening half in Glenties to the point where they led by five (0-7 to 0-2) when the sides went in at the break.
Conor O’Donnell Jnr and Niall O’Donnell were both one the score-sheet during that time and the former would increase the Eunan’s lead to six with another free early in the restart.
Like champions, Naomh Conaill responded as they got motoring with scores from Eunan Doherty and Kack McKelvey ahead of Ciaran Thompson (2) and Charlie McGuinness narrowing their team’s deficit to one with frees.
Kieran Tobin nudged the Letterkenny men two ahead again but Naomh Conaill never threw in the towel, reducing it to the minimum again, and O’Donnell came up trumps for them in injury-time with this score (watch it below) to snatch a share of the points.
