Limerick are set to appoint Jimmy Lee as their new senior football manager.

Lee, who was involved with the Treaty men during his brother Billy’s tenure from 2017 to 2022, is currently in charge of Newcastle West and steered his home club to the last two county senior football championship titles.

He also guided Newcastle West to last year’s Munster club SFC final against Kerins O’Rahillys of Kerry and his seemingly imminent as Limerick’s new football supermo will see him succeeding Mark Fitzgerald, who replaced Ray Dempsey after the latter stepped down in March after just five months in charge.

A statement released by Limerick GAA this evening (Sunday) confirmed that the county board’s Football Appointment Group would be bringing Lee's name forward for ratification.

“The Football Appointment Group wish to bring forward Jimmy Lee for ratification as the new Limerick Senior Football Manager.

“Jimmy has vast experience with his club of Newcastle West winning 2 County Senior Championships and leading them to a Munster Senior Club Championship final last season. Jimmy was also involved in the Limerick Senior Football Management Team under Billy Lee.

“Details of the back-room team will be announced in the coming weeks.”
