Diane O’Hora has been linked with the senior ladies football managerial vacancy in her native Mayo.

The speculation comes just days after she guided Kildare to All-Ireland intermediate glory at Croke Park. Leading Clare by eight points with 10 minutes remaining, they Lilywhites conceded two late goals which left them hanging on for the narrowest of victories.

O’Hara won the Brendan Martin Cup four times as a player before going on to manage Sligo, Meath, Roscommon and Kildare. Mayo are on the lookout for a new manager since last Thursday when Michael Moyles brought the curtain down on his three-year reign.

In a parting statement, the former Crossmolina and Mayo footballer said: "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the county board and the clubs for the honour they have given me in managing the Senior team and also for the support, guidance, and opportunities I have received throughout my tenure. I am truly grateful for the trust you placed in me to lead the team.

"I would also like to acknowledge the work done by a small but committed and hardworking fundraising team and to all our sponsors who helped ensure Mayo LGFA players were equipped and resourced with every tool necessary to compete at the highest level.

"Finally, I wish to thank the management team for consistently and relentlessly going above and beyond to match the ambition and dedication of the players. We hope as a management team we have added to the work done previously to make Mayo LGFA stronger."
