One of the stories of last Sunday's All-Ireland ladies football finals at Croke Park was the involvement of Erin Sands, granddaughter of Republican hunger striker Bobby Sands, with the victorious Down team.

Erin was among the subs as the Mourne County edged out Limerick by 1-7 to 0-8 to be crowned All-Ireland junior champions. Erin is the daughter of Gerard Sands, the only child of Bobby Sands, who passed away on hunger strike in 1981.

A member of the St Patrick's club in Saul, she is also a talented singer whose beautiful rendition of 'Grace' has been viewed over a million times on Youtube.
