Rising Longford football star Matt Duffy is set to try his hand in the AFL.

According to Shannonside Radio, the 19-year-old Dromard player has signed a two-year international rookie contract with the Carlton Blues who he will link up with for pre-season training in November. In the meantime, Duffy will continue to line out for his club in the Longford SFC.

Duffy, who first came to the attention of AFL scouts two years ago, will be the first Longford player to play Aussie Rules since current county star Mickey Quinn joined Essendon in 2008.
