The race for the Dowling Cup has been reduced to six teams following the completion of the round-robin series on Saturday evening.

As expected, big guns Rhode and Tullamoreare are straight through to semi-finals after topping Group 2 and 1 respectively with three wins from three. Boosted by Brian Darby’s first half goal, Rhode were comfortable 1-11 to 0-6 winners over Bracknagh in Gracefield, while Tullamore were pushed hard by parish rivals Durrow in Kilcormac before prevailing on a 1-10 to 0-9 scoreline.

They await the winners of the quarter-finals, the pairings for which are Edenderry v Durrow and Ferbane v Bracknagh. The relegation playoff will be contested by Clara and Shamrocks who went down fighting against Ferbane and Edenderry.

With only a point to their name going into the last round, Edenderry got the win they needed against Shamrocks, who welcomed back Jack Bryant from the US, while Ferbane required two late goals to see off a battling Clara side who were much improved on their previous performances against Durrow and Tullamore, but still came up short.
