Former Hurler of the Year Tommy Dunne has been appointed as head hurling coach at Cistercian College, Roscrea for the 2023/24 season, a role that will see him coach both the junior and senior teams at the Tipperary/Offaly-border school.
Dunne enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Toomevara and Tipperary. He captained Tipp to an All-Ireland SHC title in 2001 and later had successful stints as coach with the Premier County’s senior, minor and U21 teams.
Dunne will be a great addition to the hurling programme at the College. Cistercian College has always enjoyed a strong reputation for excellence in sports and extracurricular activities. In addition to rugby, hurling is one of the main sports played by students at Cistercian College, who won a North Leinster senior hurling title this year.
Commenting on his new role at the College, Tommy Dunne said: “I am delighted to have taken up the role of senior and junior hurling coach in Cistercian College. I look forward to building a hurling programme that will develop the skills of both squads and create an enjoyable and challenging programme for the hurlers in the College."
