David Gough will be the referee for Sunday week’s All-Ireland senior football championship final between Kerry and Dublin.

The GAA confirmed yesterday (Thursday) that the Meath official will be the man in the middle for the blockbuster showdown between the Kingdom and the Dubs at Croke Park, where Monaghan's Martin McNally and Galway’s James Molloy will be his linesmen, with McNally installed as standby referee. Fergal Kelly of Longford will be the sideline referee.

His umpires on the day will be Dean Gough, Eugene Gough, Stephen Gough and Terry Gough, all members of his native Slane club.

It’s set to be the second Sam Maguire Cup decider that Gough has taken charge of, with his first being the 2019 decider between the same two counties which ended in a draw.

Other inter-county football finals which he has refereed include the 2015 All-Ireland minor final and the 2018 All-Ireland club final, the Munster final in 2016, the 2017 Connacht final and the Ulster final in 2018, 2021 and 2023.
