Brian Lohan felt a few big decisions went against his Clare team in their heartbreaking All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat to Kilkenny.
Clare fans were particularly annoyed at referee Colm Lyons’ decision to blow for a free-in following a foul on Peter Duggan rather than allow Mark Rodgers’ second half goal to stand.
“Sure look, he had blown the whistle. But we didn’t seem to get a huge amount from the referee today. Found it hard to get frees,” the Banner boss said.
“Look, everyone has tough jobs to do, it's a tough place to be for a referee, but maybe he didn't have his best game today."
Lohan continued: “I'm disappointed to lose the game against a really good opponent, a really tough team, a very accurate team as well.
In these games you try a number of things. At half-time, we were looking at it, we were five points down, so it didn't work as well as we would have liked it to work.
“So we decided to push up and I think our players played great in that second half, and were just a little bit unlucky.”
