Dublin secured their first win in Group 3 of the All-Ireland SFC by seeing off Kildare on a comprehensive 0-22 to 0-13 scoreline at Nowlan Park this evening.

Before throw-in in this one, the Dubs lost attacker Cormac Costello as a result of a late withdrawal due to precaution taken over an ankle injury.

However, it made little difference to the game’s outcome as the Leinster champions got motoring after the opening quarter of an hour to hit six unanswered points that sent them towards a 0-13 to 0-8 half-time lead.

Kildare did grab the first two points of the second-half through Ben McCormack but that was about as good as it got for them, with Sean Bugler and a Dean Rock (free) soon cancelling out both of them.

‘Man of the Match’ Colm Basquel, who finished with 0-5, Paul Mannion and Brian Fenton kept the scoreboard rolling for Dessie Farrell’s team and points from Bugler, Tom Lahiff and Mannion would round off their nine-point win in Kilkenny.
