Kildare find that little bit extra to retain Leinster U20FC crown

Ryan Sinkey was the Kildare scoring hero as the Lilywhites put Leinster U20FC titles back-to-back with a dramatic 0-16 to 0-13 extra-time victory over Dublin at Netwatch Cullen Park last evening.

The Naas CBS starlet posted four points from play as last year's All-Ireland runners-up repeated last year's provincial final victory over the Dubs to set up an All-Ireland semi-final against either Down or Derry on May 6.

Beaten by Westmeath in the first round, Kildare have bounced back impressively and showed buckets of courage to win this after trailing for much of normal time. Despite being without injured stars Luke Breathnach and Eoghan O'Connor Flanagan, Dublin led by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time thanks to scores from Joe Quigley, Ross Keogh and senior panelist Greg McEneaney.

Keogh extended Dublin's advantage to three points after the restart before the holders hit back with four on the trot from Callum Bolton, Sinkey, Oisin O'Sullivan and Adam Fanning to take the lead for the first time, 0-10 to 0-9.

Bill Costello and Quigley edged Dublin back in front before Dalton sent the game to extra-time with a last-gasp equaliser, 0-11 each.

But Brian Flanagan's side found an extra gear after that as scores from Fanning, Bolton, Shane Farrell, goalkeeper Cormac Barker and O'Sullivan saw them home.
