Donegal have been dealt another blow with the news that All-Star wing back Ryan McHugh has departed their squad.

The Kilcar clubman had not featured for the Tir Chonaill men this season due to injury and is now set to miss the entire championship over work commitments abroad.

“I have got a job offer to go travelling for a few months and was something I couldn’t turn down,” McHugh told donegaldaily.com.

“The fact then I’m injured and couldn’t play for another five or six weeks anyway.”

Following manager Paddy Carr’s departure last month after just five months in charge, Donegal are set to get their Ulster senior football championship campaign underway on Sunday fortnight when they take on Down in Newry.

Aidan O’Rourke’s charges will do so without the services of McHugh and clubmate Paddy McBrearty, with the latter currently recovering from an operation.
