The Leinster U20FC is down to the knockout stages following the completion of the round-robin series last night.

In next week's quarter-finals, Meath will face Westmeath and Louth will take on holders Kildare in Ashbourne and Stabannon respectively, while Laois and Dublin go straight through to the semi-finals after topping Group 1 and 2 respectively.

At Laois Hire O'Moore Park, Laois came from behind to end Meath's unbeaten run. The Royals failed to score after the 36th minute as the hosts rallied with an unanswered 1-5 - the goal coming from David Costello. Longford edged out Carlow by 1-8 to 0-9 in the other Group 1 fixture, but the result had no bearing.

Dublin made it three wins from three in Group 2 after eventually seeing off Offaly in Tullamore. The Dubs, who were already assured of a place in the knockout stages, got off to a flying start thanks to a goal from Greg McEneaney, but the home side hit back with a goal from John Furlong to trail by 1-4 to 1-6 at half-time. Offaly edged ahead through a Harry Plunkett free after the restart, but the visitors finished strongly to run out 1-15 to 1-9 winners.

Louth finished runners-up in the group after Sean Reynolds scored the winning point against Wicklow in Stabannon. Trailing by nine points late in the first half, the Wee County came storming back to win 2-12 to 2-11.

Westmeath chalked up their second win in the three-team Group 3 when they accounted for Wexford by 1-16 to 1-9 at Lakepoint Park in Mullingar. Kildare, who weren't in action last night, join the Lake County in the knockout stages by virtue of their win over Wexford last week.

Meanwhile, Galway needed late goals from Michael Moughan and Matthew Thompson to overcome Leitrim by 2-9 to 0-6 in their Connacht U20FC semi-final at a rain-soaked Tuam Stadium. The Tribesmen will meet one of Roscommon, Sligo or Mayo in the decider.
