Holders University of Galway, MTU Cork and St Mary's, Belfast are safely through to the quarter-finals of the Sigerson Cup.
Captain Matthew Tierney scored 0-7 as University of Galway eased to a 2-11 to 1-6 victory over UCD last night. Tierney's Galway senior team-mate Tomo Culhane traded goals with David Garland as the winners took a 1-5 to 1-2 lead into the break. But it was one-way traffic for much of the second half as Cathal Sweeney's goal helped the champions to a comfortable win.
Ryan O'Donovan scored 0-10 for MTU Cork as they accounted for Maynooth University by 3-14 to 2-11 in Abbotstown. The winners' goals came from Alan Walsh, Liam Smith and Dylan O'Connor, while Darragh Kirwan top-scored for Maynooth with 0-6.
The sides were level on 2-11 each before a late MTU Cork burst yielded three points from O'Donovan and a goal from O'Connor.
In Ballinode, Cormac Murphy's first half goal laid the foundations for St Mary's 1-11 to 0-6 victory over ATU Sligo.
The other Round 2 ties, Queens v DCU and Ulster University v ATU Donegal, have been rescheduled for today.
