Veteran Clare football attacker David Tubridy has announced his inter-county retirement.
The Doonbeg sharpshooter took to social media to confirm he had brought the curtain down on his 15-year senior career after reports emerged over the weekend that he was bowing out. Handed his debut by the late Paidí Ó Sé in 2007, Tubridy was one of the most under-rated forwards in the game who holds the distinction of being the highest scorer in National Football League history with a tally of 22-241.
He played a key part in the Banner County’s rise from Division 4 to Division 2 under manager Colm Collins and also played in two All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals.
“A very hard call for me to make, but happy knowing Clare football is in a great place right now,” he tweeted.
