Glen captain Conor Carville says the Derry champions proved their doubters wrong after delivering the goods to overcome Kilcoo and land their first Ulster club SFC title.

Malachy O’Rourke’s team made an electric start at the Athletic Grounds and went on to claim a 1-12 to 1-6 victory, dethroning the Magpies of their Ulster and All-Ireland titles in the process.

In his winning captain’s speech afterwards, Carville said the team's critics were firmly silenced as a result of the display they put forth in Armagh.

“For years, people said Glen had no character. We are underachievers, we are mentally weak, and no leaders. Today, we are kings of Ulster," he stated.

“I want to mention to special men who completely turned our club around, Malachy and Ryan. Words can't describe what you've done for our club and we are just so luck to have ye, we don't want to let ye go so cheers."
