Tourlestrane dug deep to secure an unprecedented seventh successive Sligo senior football championship title after a hard-fought 0-15 to 0-13 extra-time victory over St Mary's at Markievicz Park this afternoon.

Tour's 41-game unbeaten run in the Owen B Hunt Cup competition appeared to be at an end after a couple of Nathan Rooney frees pushed St Mary's 0-9 to 0-11 in front. However, a Cathal Henry free followed by Oisin Kennedy's equalising point in the dying seconds sent the game into extra-time.

The team captained by Gary Gaughan used their get out of jail card to good effect as they outscored the Kent Park outfit by 0-4 to 0-2 in the additional 20 minutes. Man-of-the-match Liam Gaughan rounded off a memorable victory for Tour' with his fifth point of the day.
