Louth football manager Mickey Harte will be able to call on Ciarán Byrne next season after he reportedly ruled out a return to the AFL.

Byrne was recently approached by his former club Carlton regarding a possible return to Aussie Rules, but RTÉ is reporting that the St Mochta's forward has rejected the offer and will remain with the Wee County in 2023.

Byrne spent five years with the Blues between 2013 and '18, but will continue to line out with Louth who have made great strides under Tyrone legend Harte and were promoted to Division 2 of the Allianz League last spring.
