Kerry captain Joe O'Connor is expected to be out of action for at least nine months after suffering an ACL tear.
According to The Kerryman, the midfielder sustained the injury during Austin Stacks' SFC win over local rivals Na Gaeil last Friday night. He subsequently underwent a scan which confirmed he had suffered cruciate damage in his right knee.
Ironically, O'Connor missed most of Kerry's Allianz League campaign because of an injury to the same knee before returning to play in four of the Kingdom's five championship games as they claimed their first All-Ireland title in eight years.
