Wolfe Tones .......... 4-9
Seneschalstown ......0-8

The champions quashed hopes of a competitive Group A round three fixture here when scoring three first-half goals. Thereafter the fixture limped to a conclusion with the 'Tones comfortably maintaining their 100% win record in the competition.

With Seneschalstown, St Colmcille's and Skryne tied on two points each, the Tara-men advanced to the quarter finals on score difference. Seneschalstown and St Colmcille's face the relegation dogfight.

Such was the poverty of the second 30 minutes that the sides managed to share only eight scores between them. Even allowing for the windy conditions, Wolfe Tones will be concerned by their second half tally of nine wides, into the hospital end.

For Seneschalstown, the second-half was about softening the scoreline and they doubled their interval tally with some fine points. Sub Cathal Hickey contributing a brace of such scores.

The experienced Cian Ward was introduced for the final quarter and directed matters from a midfield sweeping role.

Wolfe Tones had only registered three second-half points before sub Adam O'Neill goaled from close range in the 58th minute.

Despite facing the blustery breeze blowing from the old swimming pool end of the ground Senseschalstown were first to register through a Cathal Finnegan's fourth minute free.

Before Ciaran Marks side scored again, the champions put a major deposit on the points with two goals in quick succession.

Saran O Fionnagain bagged the first in the ninth minute after Seneschalstown easily coughed up possession. Seconds later Thomas O'Reilly fired to the net and by the end of the opening quarter Michael McDermott's side were eight points clear, 2-3 to 0-1.

In light of some of the fouls dished out to them, some of the Seneschalstown contingent were wondering what merits a black card. The sole such sanction issued during the course of the game was to Wolfe Tones' Saran O Fionnagain in the 49th minute.

Wolfe Tones superior mobility and cohesion saw them close the half with a Caolan Ward goal - following a sweeping 29th minute move. Cathal Finnegan's third pointed free of the half left Seneschalstown 11 points off the pace, 3-6 to 0-4, at the break.
