Man-of-the-match David Clifford says winning the All-Ireland SFC title with Kerry was something he had 'dreamt of all his life’.
The 23-year-old Fossa star gave a masterclass of point-scoring to help the Kingdom end an eight-year wait for the county's 38th Sam Maguire Cup title.
Jack O'Connor's side finished strongest to come out on top in a gripping final against Galway at Croke Park this afternoon, and after the final whistle, RTÉ's Damien Lawlor spoke with Clifford and his teammate David Moran.
"It’s very hard to put it into words," Clifford said on the Sunday Game Live. "I think it’s very obvious it’s something I’ve dreamt of all my life.
"I was always confident we would get over the line even though last year it didn’t work out for us.
"It was unbelievable to hear the crowd getting behind us in the second-half. It was unbelievable."
Moran, who battled back from a serious groin injury to return for this year's championship, insisted that the whole squad played their part in the success.
"In fairness it was a real panel effort," the Kerins O'Rahilly's clubman reflected.
"The guys that came in made a huge difference.
"We’ve trained very hard all year, we backed our fitness and as the game went on we felt we were getting stronger. It’s fantastic."
