John Cleary will manage the Cork footballers in the championship as Keith Ricken has been forced to take a step back on health grounds.

Cork GAA issued a statement this evening: "Cork Senior Football manager Keith Ricken has stepped down from the role for the foreseeable future due to health reasons.

"Interim manager John Cleary will fill the role in his absence. We wish Keith a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the sideline."

Ricken was appointed to the role last Autumn with Cleary as a coach. The Rebels struggled in Allianz FL Division 2 and a last gasp win over Offaly in the final round saw them avoid relegation.
