Tipp revive promotion challenge with defeat of Sligo

Tipperary secured their first win in the Allianz Football League Division 4 section at the third attempt in Thurles this evening.

The Premier County revived their promotion challenge with a 1-13 to 1-9 defeat of Tony McEntee's Sligo at Semple Stadium.

Boasting a scoring difference of +25 after two games, Sligo were fancied to come away with a third successive victory but David Power's men had other ideas.

Leading by 1-8 to 1-5 at half-time, Mikey O’Shea set up Sean O'Connor for Tipp's all-important goal on 13 minutes after Luke Towey raised the visitors' green flag.
