A dominant first-half display laid the foundations for Kerry's 1-15 to 0-11 victory over old rivals Dublin in the second round of the Allianz Football League at a rain-lashed Austin Stack Park this evening.

With the elements at their backs, Jack O'Connor's side ran amok in the first period to build up an unassailable 1-14 to 0-4 half-time lead.

The Kingdom managed just one point after the break, but they had built up a sizeable buffer that the Dubs could never overcome as a ferocious wind played havoc with both sides' efforts.

The only goal of the game was scored by Kerry's Dara Moynihan in first-half injury time after they had missed an earlier penalty which was dragged wide by the usually accurate David Clifford.

Dublin only trailed by a point (0-5 to 0-4) after Sean Bugler split the posts on 18 minutes while Dessie Farrell's charges had a Dean Rock goal disallowed after a foul by the black carded Niall Scully beforehand.

But points from Moynihan, Paul Geaney, Clifford (2) and Sean O’Shea left them trailing 0-12 to 0-4 before Moynihan drove an unstoppable shot into Evan Comerford's net.

Dublin were always fighting a losing battle after that but kept plugging away, outscoring the hosts by 0-1 to 0-7 on the restart.
