Cahir McMonagle's late penalty goal sealed Steelstown Brian Og's place in the All-Ireland Club IFC final against Meath champions Trim at Croke Park on Sunday week as a fancied Na Gaeil were beaten 2-6 to 0-7 in Bekan.

Hugh McGrath's charges will be the first Derry club since Eoghan Rua in 2007 to contest the Kieran O'Sullivan decider after refusing to wilt against the Kerry kingpins.

Ben McCarron - Steelstown's sole scorer in the opening half - got through for the opening goal of the game on 19 minutes and that proved the difference at half-time, 1-3 to 0-3.

Despite their opponents playing the last 20 minutes with 14-men, Na Gaeil - including Kerry stars Jack and Andrew Barry, Diarmuid O'Connor and Stefan Okunbor in their ranks - were unable to get back on level terms.

Earlier today, Trim, managed by former Meath full-back Kevin Reilly, ousted St Faithleach's of Roscommon by 1-11 to 0-11 at The Downs GAA club grounds outside Mullingar.

The sides went in level at half-time on 0-5 apiece after a couple of frees from brothers Ciarain and Diarmuid Murtagh regained parity for St Faithleach's.

But Reilly's charges kicked on after the resumption, with points from Conor Quigley and Daire Lynch, coupled with Aaron Lynch's all-important goal via the penalty spot on 40 minutes, giving them a cushion they would retain.
