Cork landed a 34th Munster minor hurling championship title this evening after seeing off Waterford by 1-26 to 1-15 in Thurles.

The Rebels made a brilliant start to this decider thanks to Eoin O’Leary’s coolly taken goal in the opening minute and they never looked back, following up O’Leary’s strike with three points before Waterford got on the scoreboard.

Diarmuid Healy and Jack Leahy (0-11) kept the scores coming for Cork and they’d be 1-9 to 0-4 in front come the first water break.

Jack Twomey netted a brilliant goal in the 23rd minute for the Deise lads but the Leesiders weren’t going to be derailed and led at the break by 1-17 to 1-6.

Leahy (two frees) raised the Cork tally to 1-20 after the restart and another half dozen scores from the winners’ deadly attack was more than enough to seal a first Munster MHC final triumph since 2017 for the Rebel County.

The win ensures Noel Furlong’s side a place in the All-Ireland final against either Galway or Kilkenny on the weekend of August 21/22.
