Kilkenny great Anne Dalton has retired from inter-county camogie.

The inspirational St Lachtain's player bows out on the back of winning a second All-Ireland title.

Dalton claimed her first Celtic Cross in 2016 before losing out in three successive All-Ireland finals.

Fittingly, the 32-year-old mother-of-three, retires on a high after she helped inspire the Cats to victory over Galway in the O'Duffy Cup decider last month.

Dalton won five All Star awards and two Player of the Year accolades, nine years apart, in 2009 and 2018.

Kilkenny manager Brian Dowling has paid tribute to "one of the greatest camogie players to ever play the game."

"It was a pleasure to have worked with one of the greatest camogie players to ever play the game," Dowling tweeted.

"Huge loss to camogie. Happy retirement Anne Dalton."
