Galway GAA have sent their best wishes to Sligo GAA after the Yeats County were forced to withdraw from their scheduled Connacht SFC tie due to a Covid-19 outbreak.
Late last night Sligo confirmed that they are unable to field a team in Saturday's Connacht SFC semi-final and so a walkover was given to opponents Galway for the clash in Salthill.
Galway issued a statement this morning in which they described the development as ‘disappointing for everybody’ and wished all in Sligo affected by the outbreak well.
They also said that preparations had now begun for the Connacht final.
“It’s hugely disappointing for everybody involved but we’re living in unprecedented times,” said Galway Chairperson Pat Kearney.
“We’ve been in contact with Sligo GAA over the last two days and would like to wish them all the very best.
“The Galway Senior Football team will continue with their training this week with all their focus now on the Connacht SF Final on Sunday week.
“Galway GAA will be making no further comment on this matter.”
TweetGRMA @Galway_GAA and thanks also for your understanding ..Good luck in the rest of the championship.
